(Jake) Joaquin Gonzales - BHS

How long have you worked for the County?
In December will be 2 years
What do you like most about your job? I get to work with others that love to help people. I also like that my creativity is welcomed along with some of my other personality traits that we will not mention for the lack of writing space.
Why did you decide to work for the County? I was invited to a Felony Court Drug Program graduation and witnessed how Madera County puts resources into their population and I told myself that day I was going to be apart of that someday. 2 years later I was hired for the very same job I had told myself I wanted.

What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career?  Getting this job!! I had applied several different times and was put on the waiting list but was never called. Then I got the CALL...and the rest is history.

When I'm not at work you can find me...I love spending time with my family most of all. In between that I go to school and volunteer for the Red Cross on a Disaster Assistance main job is called Disaster Spiritual Care. Yes, I am that guy that you hear in the news that responds to house fires to assist the family in need.

What was your first job?  My first job was working for Parks and Recreation for the City of Fresno running the lunch program at Manchester Park.

What is your favorite food? This question is hard because as most of you know there are many foods I stay away from because I used to weight over 400 pounds but I love eating anything that you can BBQ...even though I can not eat much of it, I still nibble.

What is your favorite kind of music? I love music and at one point in my life I wanted to be a music teacher. I have played with many musicians in my life from Tito Puente to Arturo Sandoval but the high light is when  I got to play with Tower of Power at the Oakland Coliseum. Now you can catch me listening to anything from jazz to country.

What is your favorite sports team? GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!

If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be?  I have always dreamed of being in New York during Christmas time and watching it start to snow in Time Square. But if we are talking somewhere I need a passport I would have to say Italy. I have always wanted to take a ride in a gondola touring the Grand Canal in Venice. I need a passport I would have to say Italy. I have always wanted to take a ride in a gondola touring the Grand Canal in Venice.

Where do you see yourself in five years?  In five years I see myself a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist here at behavioral health working with co-occurring adolescents maybe working on my PH. D.
