Public Health

Public Health BuildingThe Madera County Public Health Department protects and promotes the health of our the community by means of preventive medical and educational services.

Our department is also responsible for enforcing all state and local health laws. Some of our services and programs include Emergency Preparedness, Communicable Disease Control, HIV/AIDS surveillance and supportive services, Senior Citizens preventive health, Child Health and Disability Prevention, California Children Services, Childhood Lead Prevention, public health laboratory analysis, Vital Statistics, Maternal Child and Adolescent Health case management and nursing services, Immunization clinics, Women Infants and Children, and health education programs addressing teen pregnancy, nutrition, obesity, tobacco use, and asthma.



Get the Flu Shot, not the Flu

  • Madera County Public Health Department located at 14215 Road 28, Madera
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, by appointment only
  • Wednesdays from 9:00 am to noon and 11:30 pm to 6:00 pm, walk-in - no appointment necessary
  • $5.00 administration fee (no one will be refused service if unable to pay)

The Vital Statistics Section of the Public Health Department provides the following services:

  • Issues certified copies of birth and death events that have occurred in the last 12 months
  • Authorizes burial permits
  • Registers births and deaths
  • Registers out-of-hospital births
  • Acts as a liaison between the public and the State of California Office of Vital Records
  • Compiles data relating to births and deaths
  • Compiles data on infectious diseases reported in Madera County
  • Provides statistical information upon request
  • Open to the public Mon-Fri, 8:00AM-12:00PM, and 1:00PM-5:00PM (Closed for lunch from 12-1PM)

  • Madera Clinic

    • Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. By appointment only
    • Walk-in Immunization Clinic every Wednesday 9:00 - 11:30 am and 1:30 - 6:00 pm No appointment needed

    Chowchilla Clinic

    • The Tuesday before the third Friday of every month. By appointment only

    Oakhurst Clinic

    • The Tuesday before the fourth Friday of every month. By appointment only
