Public Health BuildingThe Madera County Public Health Department protects and promotes the health of our the community by means of preventive medical and educational services.

Our department is also responsible for enforcing all state and local health laws. Some of our services and programs include Emergency Preparedness, Communicable Disease Control, HIV/AIDS surveillance and supportive services, senior citizens preventive health, Child Health and Disability Prevention, California Children Services, Childhood Lead Prevention, public health laboratory analysis, vital statistics, maternal child and adolescent health case management and nursing services, immunization clinics, Women Infants and Children, and health education programs addressing teen pregnancy, nutrition, obesity, tobacco use, and asthma.

The Vital Statistics Section of the Public Health Department provides the following services:

  • Issues certified copies of birth and death events
  • Authorizes burial permits
  • Registers births and deaths
  • Registers out-of-hospital births
  • Acts as a liaison between the public and the State of California Office of Vital Records
  • Compiles data relating to births and deaths
  • Compiles data on infectious diseases reported in Madera County
  • Provides statistical information upon request
  • Open to the public Mon-Fri, 8:00-11:30AM and 1:00-4:30PM

These immunizations will protect your baby from these 12 diseases: Polio, Diphteria, Tetanus (lockjaw), Pertussis (whooping cought), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German measles), Hib (Meningitis), Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Varicella (chicken pox), and Pneumococcal infections.

Special Flu Clinic TImes: 2013:

Anyone over 12 years of age can get flu shots at our department in Madera Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Children under 12 years can get their flu shots along with routine immunizations on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

OAKURST OFFICE FLU CLINICS:

January 22nd from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

January 25th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Public Health is also having special outreach clinics at the Madera Fairgrounds in January, as well as evening clinics on certain Wednesdays.

Regular Clinic Times

  • Madera: Every Wednesday 8:00 - 10:00am and the 2nd and last Wednesday 4:00pm - 6:30pm.
  • Chowchilla: 1st Wednesday of the month 2:00 - 4:00pm.
  • Oakhurst: 4th Friday, 9:00am - Noon
