Behavioral Health Services Issues RFP

Madera County Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from community based organizations for new Innovation Projects (INN Projects) which will be funded by the Madera's allotment of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, also known as Prop 63, which California voters passed in November 2004. MHSA is funded by a 1% tax on personal incomes above a million dollars and the monies generated are used to expand and transform California's county mental health systems.

The INN Project(s) to be considered for funding must be new and innovative and add to the learning process or move the Madera County mental health system towards the development of new practices and approaches for the following purposes:

  • Increase access to underserved groups
  • Increase the quality of services, including better outcomes
  • Promote interagency collaboration
  • Increase access to services

Spotlight - BHS

Ninfa Mosqueda - BHS

Ninfa Mosqueda - Spotlight How long have you worked for the County? Almost 8 years.....
What do you like most about your job? The humble feeling I get inside when a client thanks me for helping them back on their feet when they're at their lowest and don't believe there is a way out.
Why did you decide to work for the County? It was time for a change in my nursing career. I had worked as a jail nurse at Madera County Dept of Corrections for 10 years & didn't feel it was a challenge anymore.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? Organizing and maintaining nursing services at BHS during the time I was the only nurse employed with the department.
When I'm not at work you can find me...Spending memorable moments with my husband, with Bella & Chloe my Shih-Tzu's, and my 5-month old beautiful daughter Daleyza. It was time to become a mommy and finally have a little family.
What was your first job? I worked as a developmental disability assistant providing care to the mentally & physically disabled in their home.
What is your favorite food? I really have no preference. I enjoy all foods.
What is your favorite kind of music? I'm open to listening to any type of music.
What is your favorite sports team? I'm not really a sports fan. But I'm a hardcore mixed martial arts fan...go UFC!
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? What better place than the Galapago Islands or Hawaii......enjoying the turtles.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I live and cherish the present and try not to worry about tomorrow....thanks to my daughter.
