Behavioral Health Services Issues RFP

Madera County Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from community based organizations for new Innovation Projects (INN Projects) which will be funded by the Madera's allotment of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, also known as Prop 63, which California voters passed in November 2004. MHSA is funded by a 1% tax on personal incomes above a million dollars and the monies generated are used to expand and transform California's county mental health systems.

The INN Project(s) to be considered for funding must be new and innovative and add to the learning process or move the Madera County mental health system towards the development of new practices and approaches for the following purposes:

  • Increase access to underserved groups
  • Increase the quality of services, including better outcomes
  • Promote interagency collaboration
  • Increase access to services

clip image002 How long have you worked for the County? 15 years
What do you like most about your job? The wonderful ladies I work with in medical records. They are more than co-workers, they are friends!
Why did you decide to work for the County? I thought it would be an awesome opportunity with room to grow.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? My most memorable accomplishment was going from an Office Assistant I to a Program Assistant II.
When I'm not at work you can find me...When I'm not at work you can find me with friends and family. During the summer you can find me out at the old fishing hole. I love to fish!
What was your first job? I was an Office Assistant for Kings View Drug and Alcohol Services.
What is your favorite food? I don't have a favorite food but if I had to pick, it would be a toss up between candied yams or spinach quiche
What is your favorite kind of music? I enjoy listening to the Blues, R&B, Rap, and anything 80's
What is your favorite sports team? I'm really not a big sports fan but my mom and my two oldest children are die hard 49er fans. I always cheer for them to win because I know it will make my mom and kids happy.
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? I would love to go to Ireland!
Where do you see yourself in five years? Still sitting in my same seat here at BHS
