Behavioral Health Services Issues RFP

Madera County Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from community based organizations for new Innovation Projects (INN Projects) which will be funded by the Madera's allotment of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, also known as Prop 63, which California voters passed in November 2004. MHSA is funded by a 1% tax on personal incomes above a million dollars and the monies generated are used to expand and transform California's county mental health systems.

The INN Project(s) to be considered for funding must be new and innovative and add to the learning process or move the Madera County mental health system towards the development of new practices and approaches for the following purposes:

  • Increase access to underserved groups
  • Increase the quality of services, including better outcomes
  • Promote interagency collaboration
  • Increase access to services

Eva WeikelHow long have you worked for the County?   12 years.
What do you like most about your job? That it's fast paced, that no two days are the same.  Love a challenge.
Why did you decide to work for the County? I had relocated to the area and wanted to invest in my future by finding a stable position with room for growth.

What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career?  Finding people who have become family.  It's been a blessing I didn't expect.

When I'm not at work you can find me...Home with my favorite people...my beautiful family.

What was your first job? Dishwasher/Waitress.

What is your favorite food? Enchiladas or ANYTHING my mom cooks...YUM!

What is your favorite kind of music?  I have a range...from dance to salsa.

What is your favorite sports team? Can't say I have one, not much into watching sports.

If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be?  Spain to find one half of my roots.

Where do you see yourself in five years?  In a place where my professional growth and personal happiness continue as today.
