Behavioral Health Services Issues RFP

Madera County Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from community based organizations for new Innovation Projects (INN Projects) which will be funded by the Madera's allotment of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, also known as Prop 63, which California voters passed in November 2004. MHSA is funded by a 1% tax on personal incomes above a million dollars and the monies generated are used to expand and transform California's county mental health systems.

The INN Project(s) to be considered for funding must be new and innovative and add to the learning process or move the Madera County mental health system towards the development of new practices and approaches for the following purposes:

  • Increase access to underserved groups
  • Increase the quality of services, including better outcomes
  • Promote interagency collaboration
  • Increase access to services

panchito and_mommy How long have you worked for the County? (Since) October 2003
What do you like most about your job? The ability to provide those with mental health needs with services that will help with improving their quality of life.
Why did you decide to work for the County? .I was given the opportunity to complete my undergrad internship, liked working in a small county and was lucky enough to get hired here.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? I think seeing the progress that many of our clients make is a great accomplishment.  It shows that you have developed a working relationship with them that has helped toward making progress in their recovery.
When I'm not at work you can find me...I'm usually at home spending time with my son.
What was your first job? I was a cashier for a grocery store in my hometown.
What is your favorite food? I'm a foodie at heart so pretty much everything!
What is your favorite kind of music? I can honestly say that I listen to just about any genre of music.  If you turn my radio on you will usually find Spanish Rock or Country playing.
What is your favorite sports team? I'm a 49er Fan!
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? Somewhere tropical where my son can enjoy the water, sand and sun.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Hopefully by then having completed a Master's degree I should have completed 10 years ago.
