Behavioral Health Services Issues RFP

Madera County Department of Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from community based organizations for new Innovation Projects (INN Projects) which will be funded by the Madera's allotment of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, also known as Prop 63, which California voters passed in November 2004. MHSA is funded by a 1% tax on personal incomes above a million dollars and the monies generated are used to expand and transform California's county mental health systems.

The INN Project(s) to be considered for funding must be new and innovative and add to the learning process or move the Madera County mental health system towards the development of new practices and approaches for the following purposes:

  • Increase access to underserved groups
  • Increase the quality of services, including better outcomes
  • Promote interagency collaboration
  • Increase access to services

Spotlight - BHS

Emi Takeshita-Doty - BHS

Kristine How long have you worked for the County? Almost one year
What do you like most about your job? It is a pleasure to work with children and their families and my co-workers. I see my job as challenging, but also a lot of fun.
Why did you decide to work for the County? It saw a great opportunity working at the County and I am able to grow my career in Marriage and Family therapy.
What is your most memorable accomplishment during your County career? I am very pleased with my transition from working with adults in drug and alcohol counseling to children. It was a big shift, but it has progressed very well.
When I'm not at work you can find me...Spending time with family, cooking and going on weekend adventures with my husband.
What was your first job? I was a part of the opening team of the Ghirardelli store on Cannery Row in Monterey. I handed out chocolate to the tourists walking by.
What is your favorite food? Do french fries count?
What is your favorite kind of music? I really enjoy alternative, especially from the 90's.
What is your favorite sports team? I am not a big sports fan, but I really enjoy going to Giant's games.
If you were to travel anywhere in the world for a dream vacation, where would it be? Bora Bora or Fiji. Why not spend time in a hut on the water? It sounds amazing.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I hope to be with the County, as a fully licensed clinician, and hopefully take on the role of motherhood.
